Citizens Advice East Berkshire Hosts Summer Tea Party to Celebrate Volunteers at South Hill Park

Citizens Advice East Berkshire (CAEB) hosted a heart-warming Summer Tea Party on Wednesday, 4 June at the scenic South Hill Park in Bracknell, in celebration of National Volunteers’ Week 2025. The event brought together volunteers and staff to honour the incredible contributions of those who give their time and expertise to support the local community.

The team was honoured to welcome the Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Councillor Janet Cochrane to the event which offered an opportunity for volunteers to come together to reflect on their shared impact.

“Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do,” said Nicola Miller, CEO at Citizens Advice East Berkshire. “They give their time, energy, and compassion to help people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges. This event is a small token of our immense appreciation for their dedication.”

Citizens Advice East Berkshire provides free, confidential, and impartial advice to help people resolve a wide range of issues—from debt and housing to employment and benefits. The service empowers individuals to understand their rights and make informed decisions, improving lives and strengthening communities across Bracknell, Maidenhead, Windsor, and Slough.

Last year the charity saw unprecedented demand for its services, supporting 6,013 people in East Berkshire. It can only do this work thanks to its 70-strong team of volunteers who are central to service delivery. One such volunteer, Susanna J., Honorary Legal Adviser at CAEB, has been volunteering for the past 10 years. She shared:

“I became a volunteer at Citizens Advice when I retired because I wanted to do part-time voluntary work. I find the work interesting and fulfilling and I enjoy the work, and the company of my fellow volunteers and advisers, very much. I warmly recommend others to join us.”

Whether offering advice, supporting administration, or contributing to Research and Campaigns, CAEB’s volunteers ensure that thousands of people each year receive the help they need.
