CAEB receive National Lottery funding

National Lottery funding boost for Adviceline Cost of Living Project

Citizens Advice East Berkshire (CAEB) is delighted to announce it has been awarded £18,114 from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The money will go to our project to improving Adviceline – a vital phone line offering free, independent, and confidential advice to people across Maidenhead, Slough, Windsor, Bracknell and beyond.

This funding will support CAEB’s ongoing efforts to improve access to advice and support for people facing a range of challenges including debt, housing, employment, family issues, scams and more. Adviceline is often the first point of contact for those in need, and the enhancements will allow CAEB to respond more effectively to increasing demand amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

Nicola Miller, CEO of Citizens Advice East Berkshire, said:

We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this support from The National Lottery Community Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can continue strengthening our Adviceline service, which is a lifeline for many in our community. This funding means we’ll be better equipped to reach and support those who need us most.

Cheryl Coppell, Chair of the Board of Trustees at CAEB, added:

This grant will make a real difference to our capacity and reach. By improving our Adviceline, we’ll be able to help more people across East Berkshire access the advice and support they need to navigate tough times.

The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will see CAEB increase its capacity.

The funding comes as part of The National Lottery Community Fund’s ‘It starts with community’ strategy and commitment to investing at least £4 billion into UK communities by 2030. The fund’s four key missions are to support communities to come together, become more environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive, and enable people to live healthier lives.

In 2023/24, The National Lottery Community Fund awarded more than £686 million to over 13,700 projects across the UK, made possible by the £30 million raised each week by National Lottery players. To find out more visit www.TNLCommunityFund.org.uk.

In the past year alone, CAEB has delivered life-changing advice to 6,013 people across Bracknell Forest, Maidenhead, Windsor, and Slough, addressing more than 30,996 individual issues related to benefits, debt, housing, employment and more.
