Celebrating eight extraordinary years

A merger of two branches, a cost-of-living crisis and a global pandemic – Cheryl Coppell has lived through interesting times as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Cheryl has now formally stepped down from her lead role at Citizens Advice East Berkshire after eight years of service. first as a trustee, then Chair of Maidenhead and Windsor, and more recently as Chair of Citizens Advice East Berkshire which formed in 2021.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Cheryl for her exceptional leadership and many years of unwavering dedication and service. During her time with CAEB , Cheryl has guided us through significant transformations, challenging periods and plenty of celebrations too. Please join us in wishing Cheryl every success in the next chapter of her journey.

Fellor trustees, staff and volunteers attended her farewell tea party on November 12 featuring a cake covered in pictures of favourite memories, from meeting MP – and former PM –Theresa May to joining the whole CAEB team at a Volunteers Week celebration.

Cheryl said to the team:

“It has been a great honour and privilege to lead the board and witness the vital work you all do. The difference you make to clients’ lives is truly inspiring. I will carry with me lasting memories of your passion, determination and unwavering commitment to supporting people when they need it most.

“Thank you all for your incredible dedication and commitment. I will miss you greatly.”

CAEB would like to extend our sincere thanks to Cheryl for her many years of diligent service, steady leadership and unwavering commitment to our mission. Cheryl’s impact will be felt for years to come and we are deeply grateful for her contributions.

We’re also delighted to welcome Sue McVie, who brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role. We are excited for the journey ahead under her leadership.

Sue McVie, now Chair of the Board of Trustees, said:
