In recent months we have helped record numbers of people in crisis, many of whom are reaching out for assistance for the first time.
How we are speaking up for people
- We recently helped a client who was almost made homeless. They had 5 children, some of whom with disabilities. Our professional adviser assisted in talks with the council and as a result, the client was able to move to a suitable home near the children’s school.
- We assisted a client who had a range of long-term health conditions which made their life challenging. We helped them access an Attendance Allowance, with which they purchased a mobility scooter, enabling them greater confidence and security when leaving their house.

Over the last six months Citizens Advice East Berkshire has helped 4,063 clients with 20,133 issues.
We have secured £1,096,764 in income gain for our clients and written off debts worth £153,654.

We offer specialist help on benefits, debt and tax, and help with disability benefit applications and benefit appeals. Over recent months we have supported clients with court summons, illegal evictions, cases of discrimination and harassment and assisted with complex advice from statutory bodies.
Citizens Advice East Berkshire in Action
- We recently represented a client at a tribunal where they were awarded enhanced rates for both the care and mobility components of Personal Independence Payments, designed to help with the extra costs caused by ill health or disability.
- We successfully negotiated financial compensation for a client who had not been paid enough for their work and had been sacked without notice.
