Working together for the community in Slough

Citizens Advice East Berkshire had the pleasure of meeting Slough MP Tan Dhesi at his constituency office on January 9.

Our CEO, Nicola Miller, and Research & Campaigns volunteer, Sudesh Basra, were warmly welcomed by Mr Dhesi and his team for an engaging discussion about how we can work together to support communities across Slough.
Nicola shared her impressions of the meeting:

“It was great to visit the Slough constituency office. Tan was very warm and welcoming, it’s clear he’s a proactive MP who really knows the area and understands the needs of his constituents. We’re excited about the opportunities to collaborate and make a real difference for local people.”

During the visit, Sudesh shared insights from our recent impact report, which shows that in Slough alone, CAEB supported 2,228 people with 14,594 issues last year, generating over £2 million in financial gains for local residents. We also discussed pressing issues faced by CAEB clients in Slough, such as housing insecurity, debt, and the rising cost of living, as well as our ongoing campaigns on no-fault evictions, Universal Credit reforms, and energy affordability.

These insights sparked constructive conversations about how CAEB and the MP’s office can work together to address these issues and strengthen support for vulnerable residents.
This meeting marks an important step in building partnerships that amplify local voices and deliver practical solutions.

We look forward to continuing this dialogue and turning shared ideas into action for the Slough community.
