Role: Mental Health Service Caseworker

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges? As a Mental Health Service Caseworker with Citizens Advice East Berkshire, you’ll provide specialist support, delivering expert advice and casework to empower our clients towards recovery and independence.

Role Overview: In this role, you’ll deliver specialist casework to achieve positive outcomes for individuals within our local community. You’ll provide tailored advice on benefits, debt, housing, and employment, often supporting people with significant mental illness. Working closely with our dedicated team and partners, you’ll play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for those in need.

Key Details:

  • Salary: £25,000 FTE per annum (dependent on experience)
  • Hours: 29 hours per week (alternative hours considered)
  • Contract Term: Permanent
  • Location: Citizens Advice East Berkshire Offices and surrounding areas (hybrid working available)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice and casework, supporting clients with informed choices and decisions.
  • Conduct advocacy and representation at tribunals and court hearings.
  • Maintain a focus on achieving positive outcomes, including financial gains and improved well-being.
  • Stay updated with relevant legislation and share knowledge with the wider team.
  • Manage own caseload efficiently and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in learning and development activities to maintain caseworker competences.
  • Share expertise with colleagues and contribute to research and campaigns.

Person Specification: We’re looking for someone with:

  • Empathy and motivation to provide quality advice and casework support.
  • Experience in delivering advice, particularly in welfare benefits and debt advice.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to manage different situations calmly and professionally.
  • Confidence in using IT systems effectively.
  • Commitment to the values and principles of Citizens Advice.
